What we collect

Your name, email address and profile picture, as supplied by Google or Apple when you sign in. We never see or store a password, because there isn't one.

Your practice record: chanting rounds, daily targets, tasks, the struggles you report, and which verses you read. This is what the app is for, and it is what makes the personalised sloka possible.

Device information — model, operating system, app version and a push token — so notifications reach the right device.

Your approximate location — country, state, district and city — worked out from your internet address when you use the app. We keep only that place, not the address itself, and use it to understand where our readers are. It is approximate: it shows where your internet connection is, not where you are standing.

What we do with it

We use it to run the app: to keep your practice record, to choose a verse for you, and to send the notifications you have asked for. Once a week we recompute what the app has learned about your preferences from your own activity.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Email from us

If you have an account we may email you about the app and its news, and you can switch this off at any time from the link at the bottom of every email, or in the app. We may also email people who joined an invitation list and agreed to hear from us. The emails use your name, your reading language and a few things about how you use the app (such as your streak or favourite mantra) to be relevant; your conversations with Sakha are never used for this. Links in our emails pass through our website so we can count taps, and an email may contain a tiny picture that tells us it was opened; this is approximate and only about the email. When you unsubscribe, or an address bounces or complains, we keep only a one-way fingerprint of the address so we never write to it again. Emails about your account or purchases are separate and are not marketing.

What you report about yourself

The struggles you record are private to your account. They are used to choose verses for you and to build your own report. They are never shown to anyone else, and they are not used to target advertising.

AI

The app uses AI to help write notes about verses and to connect verses to the struggles people report. That work happens in advance, over the scriptures themselves. Your personal practice record is not sent to an AI provider.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app, under Settings. It is a real deletion: your practice history, favourites and notifications go with it, and it cannot be undone. See account deletion.

Payments

Subscriptions and donations are processed by Google, Apple or Razorpay. We never see or store your card details. We keep a record of the amount, the currency and the date.
